As a fully fledged Naked Bike in the entry class, it brings 48 hp, a weight of only 175 kg and a whole load of agility to the streets. For bends, group rides and the kind of plans that only get made when you’re on the road.

The F 450 R from BMW Motorrad

Journey information, connectivity and your setup across 6.5 inches: the TFT included as standard connects to your smartphone for telephony, music and, depending on the market, navigation using arrows in conjunction with the BMW Motorrad Connected app. With the riding modes Pro in the M Sport variant, there are three additional sport screens with detailed information on Dynamic Traction Control, brake force, lean angle display and a lap timer function. Additionally, it can also be used to personalise the throttle response, Anti block system and Dynamic Traction Control characteristics.

Drive off and stop without the need to operate the clutch lever: the optional Easy Ride Clutch uses centrifugal force control to automate the gearshift process, thereby making it easy to ride at particularly low speeds and in stop-and-go traffic. In overrun mode, the clutch remains closed, allowing the full engine braking effect to be retained, which is especially beneficial when riding downhill. In combination with the shift assistant Pro, the Easy Ride Clutch ensures an even more fluid ride. At the same time, you will stay in control at all times, as you can still use the clutch lever to manually intervene and take direct control of the motorcycle.

The rim tapes on the M Sport attract the eye to the lightweight cast aluminium wheel rims, thereby continuing the purist aesthetic and the M colour scheme right down to the wheels. In conjunction with the Snaefell white/M Motorsport paintwork and the white frame, this creates a presence that is clearly geared towards dynamics, right down to the last detail.

Seamless gear changes: the shift assistant Pro enables the rider to quickly upshift and downshift in almost all load and rotational speed ranges without operating the clutch. This makes the gear changes shorter, allowing you to focus on the road and your lines. Included as standard with the Exclusive and M Sport variants.

The 43-mm upside-down fork from Kayaba with gold-coloured fixed fork tubes combines the Naked Bike look with a spring travel of 140 mm. With the Exclusive and M Sport variants, you also get a special sport suspension that allows you to adjust the rebound and compression stages of the fork to suit your preferences.

A smaller handle, a tangible difference: while you can adapt the hand lever to suit your grip width, the standard heated grips can also be controlled conveniently via the multicontroller. Three levels of heating will keep your hands warm even in colder conditions, thereby ensuring a relaxed grip on the 76-cm-wide aluminium handlebars.

Character in every rev: the newly developed 420-cm³ two-cylinder in-line engine offers 48 hp. Its 135° crankpin offset reduces unwanted vibrations and shapes the independent character of the engine. As such, the BMW F 450 R combines a smooth ride with the dynamics and directness of an authentic Naked Bike.

Around 2 kg lighter, with a clearer design: the compact underbelly muffler sits below the engine, instead of on the side at the rear. This allows for a clean silhouette on the dynamic Naked Bike, while the two-cylinder engine develops its unique sound. More lightweight, more focus on what makes the BMW F 450 R so special.

Dynamics for every ride

More flexibility for your everyday life: With the M Sport version, the riding modes Pro are expanded to include a Dynamic Pro mode in addition to the three standard riding modes, Rain, Road and Dynamic. You have the option to customise the throttle response, Anti block system and Dynamic Traction Control characteristics. The sport suspension with adjustable rebound and compression stages further refines the setup. This means you can stay in control in any situation.

Perfect performance weight

48 hp meets a kerb weight of only 175 kg, making full use of the permissible performance weight of the A2 class. This is what makes the F 450 R so agile and direct. Even at 3,000 rpm, 80 % of the maximum torque of 43 Nm is available. This means you can accelerate out of bends with confidence, activate overrun mode early and ride off with ease and dynamism.

Grip and control

The Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres, which are included as standard, combine grip, rapid heating and durability, even in rainy conditions. At the front, a 310-mm single disc with a radial Brembo four-piston fixed caliper allows for powerful deceleration. ABS Pro Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Brake Control and engine drag torque control are all included as standard, and offer support when braking or accelerating, and in overrun mode.

420 ccm, 48 hp and powerful overrun, even at low rotational speeds: the two-cylinder in-line engine can achieve a maximum of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. 80 % of that is available at only 3,000 rpm. As such, the F 450 R responds spontaneously to your throttle commands and offers powerful acceleration. The crankpin offset of 135 degrees mitigates unwanted vibrations and gives the engine its emotive character.

Engine protector

Ready for action when it comes to protection: the engine protector made of high-quality aluminium protects the left side of the engine against scrapes in the event of direct contact with the tarmac. Its robust plastic pad protects key components against wear and is easy to replace if it becomes damaged. Axle protectors

Protection where you need it: the axle protectors for the front and rear axles protect the fork, rear swinging arm, brake disc and brake caliper against major damage in the event of an impact or a fall.
